CSLS and Corrs are presenting a Professional Development Workshop in the format of a “speed networking” event, where we can ask Corrs Lawyers and Staff questions about clerkship recruitment (application/cover letter/resume/interview tips), general career advice, what to expect on a clerkship etc.

The CSLS, in conjunction with Allens and Curtin University would like to present the 2018 mental health and leadership workshop.
Come along and help us break the stigmatisations and labels that surround discussions of mental health! Guest speakers Leonie Baxter from Curtin University and lawyers from Allens will be discussing ways in which we can normalise conversations about mental health and encourage behaviour that would provide support for those in need.
There will also be updates regarding upcoming resources for CBD campus students that can be utilised for wellbeing purposes.

The Australasian Law Teachers Association (‘ALTA’) is a professional body that represents interests of legal educators across Australasia. Every July, ALTA holds their Annual Conference at different law schools. This year, Curtin Law is honoured to be chosen to host the event!

The Ashurst Junior Client Interview 2018 will be taking place soon and is open to all students who have completed less than eight law units.
An information seminar, covering the rules and practicalities of client interview competitions, will be held at the Murray Street campus on Wednesday 2 May 2018 at 6pm. We encourage those interested to attend. The aim of the session is to assure you that competing in competitions is not as daunting as it may seem!

The CSLS Graduation Breakfast will be held at Fraser's Restaurant at 9am on Sunday 3 December 2017. This will be a celebration for our graduating students to gather together and commemorate their time at Curtin Law School. The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) was founded 50 years ago. Its achievements have accompanied the boom in global trade and investment since that time, including in areas such as international arbitration, cross-border insolvency, sale of goods, electronic commerce and secured transactions. UNCITRAL has now taken on a major new mandate to consider the future of Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), amongst a range of other work. Where will this lead?
The UN Day Lecture is an initiative of the UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee for Australia (UNCCA). It will be presented around Australia to introduce lawyers, academics and students to the past and future work of UNCITRAL. Admission will be free, but registration is required.

As part of Mental Health Week 2017, CSLS and staff from the Curtin Law School have organised for a panel discussion on managing mental health in law school. You will have the opportunity to hear from a number of panelists (including current students, past students, and Curtin Law School staff) about a range of topics relating to managing mental health in law school.
Topics will include:
- why managing mental health is important;
- the common causes of mental health issues in law school;
- strategies to manage mental health in law school; and
- services available to Curtin students.
Panel participants may also share some of their own experiences in managing mental health in law school. There will be an opportunity for audience questions. Students at all stages of their LLB are encouraged to attend.
