This panel serves as a place for the discussion of past and present struggles faced by those in the legal community. These successful practitioners have learnt from their experiences and grown to advocate for the rights of society’s marginalised. This panel’s speakers include Lisa Olsson, Curtis Ward, Sara Pearson and Katy Welch.
Lisa is a well-respected lawyer; she specialises in the protection of human rights, in particular, the abolishment of modern-day slavery and human trafficking here in Perth, Australia and Sweden.
Curtis is a young and upcoming lawyer. His position in the LGBTQI community has proved to be both a struggle and a blessing towards his career.
Sara works at Consumer Credit Legal Services with consumer credit issues and consumer law issues within WA. She has extensive experience providing legal assistance to the Indigenous community, helping them in gaining access to their land rights as well as those at risk of homelessness.
Last, but certainly not least; Katy. Katy is a public interest lawyer working for the amazing Humanitarian Group.
